The weather has been getting so cold lately, and it almost feels like it happened overnight. The trees are bare, puddles are freezing over and everybody seems to be getting sick. Winter is definitely here! I'll be honest, I'm not a massive fan of winter. I can't bear being cold and I also have the immune system of a newborn baby, so it seems like every time I step outside during the winter months I end up catching something. But one thing I do enjoy about winter is the makeup trends, so I thought I share with you my favourite makeup for winter. So if you're interested, keep on reading!
I love my warm tones and my cranberry colours but let's face it, winter is all about the cool tones. One of my favourite cool-toned palettes is the Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey palette, which is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Smoky. I'm gonna get real honest here, this never makes it out of my drawer during the warmer months apart from maybe to use the grey shade or the pearly pink foiled shade. What I do love about this palette though is the fact that you can either create a nice, natural, everyday look or a glam going-out look (even though my "everyday" looks are most people's clubbing looks). I think this palette is extremely versatile, even if there are shades in the palette I still haven't touched to this day.
Another palette I love is the W7 In The Buff palette. I believe W7 have changed it's name to "Colour Me Buff" now although I don't know why! This palette is another stunning cool-toned palette, and it's also a dupe for another Urban Decay palette; the Naked 2. I love it's taupey neutral shades and I think they are so flattering for all skin tones.
I associate winter with Christmas and I associate Christmas with gold glitter so obviously I had to feature the Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in "Funk"! It's a beautiful champagney-gold coloured glitter liner, and it's so easy to apply. You can use it to create a glitter wing or you can just swipe some on your lid to create a pretty, glittery smokey eye look. It's so easy and it means you don't have to faff around with fallout or glitter glue!
As you guys know, I love lipstick! I love cool-toned colours over winter, and some of my favourites are the NYX Lip Lingerie in "Teddy" the MAC Matte Lipstick in "Mehr" and the MUA Lipstick in "Shade 1". Teddy is a dark cool-toned brown that makes any makeup look dramatic and also makes warm eyeshadow looks a little more grungey. I love the lip lingeries as they are so comfortable and come in the most beautiful colours, and at £6.50 each they really cannot be beaten! Mehr is described on the MAC website as a "blue-toned pink" and is sooooo gorgeous. I'm obsessed! It's actually my first ever MAC lipstick and it is so comfortable and long-lasting on the lips. If you've not tried the MAC matte formula I really recommend doing so! And MUA's Shade 1 is for those of you who are balling on a budget or just love bargain beauty buys like me. It's a stunning deep red with a berry undertone, and actually the perfect red for my complexion and I guess the way I like to do my makeup. It's the perfect Christmas lip for me!
And of course, we have to talk about highlighter!!! The MUA Undress Your Skin highlighter in "Iridescent Gold" costs £3 and can be bought in all SuperDrug stores. I am absolutely obsessed with this highlighter right now because it's a stunning pale gold shade, perfect for pale princesses like me! It's not as intense as my Sleek Solstice Palette but that really is the most intense highlighter on the market, let's be honest. This is perfect for Christmas because I feel like Christmas is the season for a pretty, golden highlight and it's the only gold highlighter I've found that is pale enough for me!
Anyway, that's all from me today! I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas and I'll speak to you all on Boxing Day, where I'll be doing a super exciting review...
Lots of love (and merry Christmas!!!),
- Kat x
